27 October 2004 Looe town centre was badly hit by flooding. This was as a result of a storm combined with very high tides. Crews from the town, Polruan, Liskeard, and Callington attended the area to pump out many properties. The fire station itself narrowly missed being flooded as water reached the appliance bay door but did not enter the building.
